The Centre for Legal Research and Policy Studies:
- provides a focus for research for all law staff at Brookes who are engaged in research activities
- encourages inter-disciplinary research
- fosters relationships with outside agencies and other academic institutions
- provides a pool of expertise for the application of the law in policy-related areas
- facilitates debate and discussion
The Centre is based in the School of Law. Members of the Centre are scholars based in Oxford Brookes whose work falls within the remit of the Centre. The Centre contains a number of specialist groups such:
Applied Study of Law and Religion
This group takes a legal perspective on how law and religion interact, focusing on the individual believer, the religious organisation, and the State.

This group was set up in 2006 in order to promote and share ideas linked to Criminal Law, Criminal Justice and Criminology.

Critical Approaches to Law
The Critical Approaches to Law Research Group provides a space of contestation and provocation in which the relations between law, religion, the political, art, space, gender, and race can be interrogated through critical frameworks.

Postgraduate research students are automatically associate members. Associate membership is also open to external scholars working in the fields covered by the Centre. Individuals seeking associate membership should contact the Centre.
