How to apply for a higher degree by Research

This form is for statistical purposes and will be detached from your application.
For a hard copy application pack, email your name, address and the subject area you are interested in to sslresearch@brookes.ac.uk.
Application check list
Your completed application should consist of:
- A completed online UKPASS application form with separately e-mailed:
- personal statement
- provisional research proposal (1,500–2,000 words)
- CV (via UKPASS or email) To UKPASS-PGR@brookes.ac.uk
- 2 references (at least 1 must be academic)
(please ask your referee to email or send your reference directly to the Research Administer for the department you are applying to) - You must provide scanned copies of certified copies of your degree certificates or a transcript of your academic record to date scanned on UKPASS
- If English is not your main language, copies of English language qualification certificates scanned on UKPASS

You can now apply via UKPASS
What happens next?
- On receipt of your application, it will be logged and you will receive an acknowledgement by email
- On the basis of your application you will be invited to interview (this can also be by telephone or skype)
- A decision should be made within a month of receipt of your application and you will be notified of the outcome by letter. If successful, you will be sent an offer letter detailing further information, which will be copied to the Graduate Office
- Please note that you will not be able to enrol until you return your signed and dated acceptance slip (at the end of the offer letter) to your Postgraduate Research Tutor confirming your intended start date
- If you are an international student, once you have received your unconditional offer and reference number any your signed acceptance slip has been received, the Graduate Office will issue an acceptance of confirmation letter which you will need in order to apply for your visa. All queries about the confirmation of acceptance letter should be emailed to pgr.visa@brookes.ac.uk
- Enrolment instructions will be sent to you directly by the Graduate Office, near to your start date, and any queries about this process should be emailed to researchenrolment@brookes.ac.uk.
